The multi-system decon units (MSDUs) are designed to decontaminate personnel involved in the removal and disposal of contaminated materials. This is achieved by using 3 separate compartments, clean, shower and dirty. These areas are connected by self-closing doors and are large enough not to hinder operatives using the system with decontamination suits and respiratory equipment.
The modular unit is 3 x 1 x 2m (L x W x H) when constructed. It includes the shower system, 2 tube heaters, mirrors, water management system (WMS), double water filter system, water hoses, electric leads, floor matting and a negative pressure unit (NPU) to attached in the dirty end of the MSDU.
The MSDU can be erected on site by two men. All panels and roof sections are marked at the top and coloured coded tape is used around the inside of the clean and dirty ends to ensure correct construction of the unit.
The 3 sections are fastened together using thumb screws to create an airtight seal between the sections. Each doorway has an airtight seal and is kept closed by two self-closing mechanisms on each door.
The water pumps deliver 12.5 litres/min to the shower and remove the waste at the same rate. The WMS holds approx 120 litres of water at 40C.

Modular system units are ideal for areas where space or access is restricted. The system consists of three compartments, dirty end and clean end with a single shower in the middle, constructed on site using the ready made panels provided. These panels are made of either Foamex or 10mm thick polythene to keep the panels lightweight whilst being strong once erected and the whole system can be erected by 2 men in about 45 minutes. The separate air mover, water management unit and water filter are connected to the compartments by easy to use external fittings. The surfaces of the panels are smooth and hard wearing and so can be easily and quickly cleaned down before a clean air test is obtained and the system is dismantled.
Each new unit comes with 12 months limited warranty and 6 months D.O.P. and electrical test certificates, and has the back up of Thermac (Hire) Ltd's service support department and unique, computerised recall system.
