The Safestrip System is supplied, as standard,
with the following items:
- a set of 200 x Injector Units
with needles - length specified by customer
- a Distribution
Manifold
- a set of extension tubes in a variety of lengths, all
colour coded for easy selection
- a colour, laminated instruction
manual in a sturdy ring binder
- a pair of wire cutting
shears
- a selection of spare fittings for the
system.
The manifold, accessories and injector units are
housed in a sturdy polypropylene container for easy manageability and
storage.
Numerous contracts using the Safestrip System and
’Astrip Concentrate’ Wetting Fluid have produced
extraordinary results. Once injected, A.C.Ms on pipe work, boilers and
flock coated surfaces release few or no fibres during removal. In most
instances the 0.01 fibre/ml need not be exceeded during the removal
process.
The Safestrip System is water powered and needs only connecting to the
water supply. The system ideally requires water volume at 36 litres per
minute at 6 bar pressure (90 psi) to give the optimum output, however a
pressure of 2 bar will give suitable output for low level projects. The
Safestrip System’s inlet and outlet hose pipes, controls and
blending mechanisms are housed in a self contained wheeled unit. The
system is easily transportable with a ’dry’ weight of
approximately 65kg (143 lbs) and can be set up and operated by one or
two operatives. The system features include an automatic Astrip
Concentrate/water dilution system, capable of a maximum delivery volume
of 2000 litres per hour. A robustly engineered manifold provides
controllable distribution of diluted Astrip Concentrate Wetting Fluid to
the purpose made stainless steel injectors, each of which can be
regulated by its own flow control valve. The fine needles of the
injector units will pierce surfaces with negligible fibre release,
including coated and painted surfaces of A.C.M’s that cannot be
penetrated by spraying. The Safestrip System is commercially viable, can
cope with any size of contract and is capable of supplying diluted
liquid to 1200 injector units simultaneously at 30ml per
minute.
Thermac injection System
Wet strip injection machine
Designed to compliment changing asbestos
removal techniques, the Thermac (Hire) Ltd Injection Pump Unit offers a
simple and versatile answer to the need for wet stripping of asbestos in
its various forms. This low pressure electric unit can deliver asbestos
abatement chemicals by spray, to reduce airborne fibre levels within the
working enclosure, or directly into the asbestos insulation by
injection. Injection Pump Units are available in the hire fleet or for
sale as new machines from stock. As with all of Thermac (Hire) Ltd's own
manufactured equipment, the Injection Pump Unit is built from robust,
polypropylene plastic. Along with its other advantages the polypropylene
construction makes the unit compact and lightweight and its smooth flush
surfaces make cleaning down easy. The unit also benefits from having
castors fitted as standard so that it can be moved about the area of
work with ease. With a simplicity of operation and these design features
the Injection Pump Unit can be used easily by one man. The unit comes
complete with a gun, 15m reinforced hose, one long and one short brass
needle, a selection of plastic spray nozzles and nozzle spanner.

When added to the basic Injection Pump Unit, the following features make
up the more highly specified System 2:
- Empty water tank alarm
- Direct mains fed water tank
- Fluid volume control
To increase the versatility of the Injection Pump Unit accessory kits
are available for specific applications:
- Hedgehog system for use on board and limpet
- Manifold and multi needle system for extended pipe runs and large vessels
All new equipment comes with 12 months limited warranty and 6 months
electrical test and has the back up of Thermac (Hire) Ltd's service
support department.
Please note the Injection Pump Unit is not designed for spraying P.V.A.
and putting P.V.A. into the unit will damage the pump.
Additional kits
for the Injection Pump Unit Thermac (Hire) Ltd
manufacture three accessory kits to compliment the Injection Pump Unit.
These kits have been designed to meet the differing needs of the
application of wet stripping techniques in various situations.
Gun and Hose Kit
This basic kit utilises a single long or short brass
needle which is ideal for injecting small areas of pipe work or tanks.
The needles have a tapered design that prevents fluid splashing back
once the asbestos is saturated. The screw in nozzle can easily be
removed and replaced with one of the six plastic spray nozzles that come
as part of the kit. This then enables the abatement chemicals to be
sprayed onto any surface to reduce the level of air borne fibres. The
kit comprises the gun, 15m of reinforced hose, 1 long and 1 short brass
needle, 6 different plastic spray nozzles and a nozzle spanner.
Hedgehog System
The design of the Hedgehog System incorporates 6 needles
fixed onto a 300mm x 255mm polypropylene plate that makes it ideal for
use on flat areas such as sprayed asbestos on steelwork and soffits. The
Hedgehog System's lightweight construction makes it suited to overhead
work and the multiple needles make it more efficient than the single
injection gun. The Hedgehog is made up of 15m reinforced hose, the plate
incorporating the 6 needles and a fixed gun to control the fluid to the
needles.
Manifold and Multi-Needles System
The most popular of the additional
kits for the Injection Pump Unit, the Manifold and Multi Needle System
has been developed for use on long runs of pipework insulation and large
tanks and vessels. The Manifold has ten separate controlled valves which
when linked to strings of needles by 5mm nylon tubing, give control and
flexibility to the injection of abatement chemicals. Once in place the
Manifold can be left to feed the needles with fluid which is then
injected into the asbestos insulation at the desired rate. This means
that other work can be carried out whilst the asbestos insulation is
being wetted prior to removal. The standard kit comes with the manifold
and 15m of reinforced hose ready for connection to the Injection Pump
Unit, 10 strings of 5 needles and a 30m coil of extra nylon tubing to be
cut to the desired length to join the needles to the Manifold.
