The Future of Site Welfare is Here

The construction industry is a sector which is ever evolving and over recent years, there is the need for equipment to be sustainably run.

Thermac Hire, after an intense period of research and development, are now proud to launch the UK’s first fully electric Welfare Decontamination unit.

These units are typically run-on LPG, although LPG is sustainably greener than other gases, it can contribute to air pollution and has a higher calorific value than premium grade petrol.

Our new electric powered unit is not only sustainably better for the environment, helping to reduce our carbon footprint but it has been designed with the user in mind. We aimed to create a unit that required less manual handling, was safer to move around and that while used, was a more comfortable experience in all conditions.

The unit has many features including: ergonomically designed outer handles and fixed unit moveable steps for easier access and exit of the unit, LED lighting throughout and both hot and cold running water is available throughout the unit for more comfort and safer sanitising. The clean end compartment has better heating, more secure lockers and mask charging points. Fixed retractable seating and a fold-over table and can comfortably seat four people, and there is a separate WC.

A main feature of the electric DCU is that the unit has its own Technical room housing all the main components such as the negative pressure unit, hot water boiler and central electrical systems.  This drastically reduces the need to remove the unit from site should any technical problems arise, keeping site operatives catered for and projects running to schedule. As it runs purely from electric it is quieter and free from harmful fumes, so can be comfortably housed indoors (should capacity allow) or in areas which noise needs to be at an absolute minimum.
